Making Christmas and making the best of it
Our move to Germany, as Hubby puts it has been “the WORST PCS ever”. I think he’s exaggerating a little, but it has been pretty bad. All the kids have been sick, and they got the grown-ups sick too. We are in this hotel for who knows how much longer. We don’t have a car, and its bitter cold, and the shuttles don’t run often (and not at all on the weekends). The base is spread out too far to walk from place to place, so while we have access to SOME things, many others are out of reach.
I don’t want to be a whiner (I know, I know, I’m whining)…. So we are trying to make the best of it.
We went to the PX and got supplies for christmas crafts- we made a christmas tree and wreath today! We tied it in with learning by having Bug write, and we looked up flags and colored one for the USA and one for Germany, we looked up how to say Germany IN german (Deutshland). Not to mention all the coloring and cutting practice! (school is FUN)
Here is what we came up with today:
Hey we’ve lived in Germany for many years though we are stateside now. If you need any help on how to get around or where to go please ask. The Christmas markets are in full swing but will end in the next week. PLEASE go and see them. Especially the one in Koln (Cologne) and Nurenberg, even Frankfurt has a decent one. The train is super simple to use and public transport is both safe and cheap (although I understand getting off post is difficult). Anyway followed your link from secularhomeschool website in case you were wondering.
We’ll have to check those out! We’ve been having a ball, heading down to the closest one in Wiesbaden as often as we can. We’ve been enjoying the bus system but have not ventured out on the train yet! Thanks for stopping by!
