My whole family has been working too hard lately. I don’t know what it is about the end of the year, but there are always a million projects that need finishing, there are finals to study for, plans to make, and extra deadlines before the holiday vacation. I don’t always think about slowing down, but it’s so important!

Our favorite way to relax has always been movie night. This week, we picked up Minions © 2015 Universal Studios. All rights reserved.

The kids loved the entire Illumination Entertainment’s Despicable Me series, so I knew Minions would be a huge hit with them as well. As soon as it hit the shelves on December 8th, I was in line to pick up my own Blueray/DVD combo pack.

The best part of movie night is always the movie night snacks. My husband is an amazing cook, and he’s always treating us to something special when we have a new movie to watch. For the Minions, he made us some delicious nacho cheese (from scratch! I’m amazed at his talent, but he claims it isn’t difficult at all) and presented them as adorable little minion bowls.

I will admit, this recipe was much easier to make than I had thought it would be! Turning it into a minion was super easy too. We poured the cheese into a bowl (on top of a layer of refried beans, yum!). I used a glass to gently make two circle imprints on the cheese and then piped sour creme into the circles to create the goggles. Olives make the eyes pop!

Movie night was a HUGE hit for the kids. They all loved watching the Minions and are so excited to know where these crazy little guys came from. I was a huge fan of Hubby’s nachos as well- We’re going to need to repeat this movie night again soon!

If you haven’t picked up Minions yet, grab it from these retailers!

  1. I LOVE those nachos. What a great idea to do the eyes in the two different colors just like the minion (just don’t ask me which one – my kids are the one who can tell them all apart)! So much fun! #client
