Field Trip Friday: White House Easter Egg Roll

We got to do the coolest thing last week.

I seriously can not believe we got to go to this. When we got orders here, I knew the job was gonna suck (it just does) but one of the perks that came with it was the hope that we would get to attend stuff like this. The White House Easter Egg roll is iconic American. I really wanted my kids to get to experience it, and I wanted to grab the pictures of them and the wooden spoon!

I got the pictures! (and that, up there on the White House balcony, is The First Lady herself). You wouldn’t believe how high I jumped when the kids finished the roll, and she came wandering down. The race right after us got Michelle Obama- and I got a picture!

The kids also got to do the obstacle course with the NFL players. I’m not a football fan, so don’t judge me when I say I have no idea who we met (and I didn’t grab a picture either) but the kids loved it and took the challenge seriously!

We had an awesome time. The kids were so excited to get to go play in the President’s backyard. And I am excited to check off another part of the grounds off my list- I’ve now been everywhere but the West Wing… but give me a couple years, and maybe I can run for President and just move in!

If you ever get the chance to get tickets to the Easter Egg Roll, GO. But- be warned, there are a million people there. You won’t have time to do everything (um, or more than two things). Even if they tell you to line up 45 minutes before your time slot, know they are liars and they really mean line up three hours in advance, and wear adult diapers in line, because there are no toilets until you get in, and if you aren’t early, you’ll wait until 10 minutes before your time is up.

So… show up early.

And have a wonderful time!
