Best Children’s Picture Books for Fall

Sharing is caring!

Now that Hubby is home with us, I am finally getting around to unpacking all out children’s books and getting them on the shelves. I may have a bit of an addiction to beautiful picture books. However, as I put them on the shelves, my husband pointed out that maybe I have too many (Is that even possible??) and suggested maybe I get them from the library for a while instead of picking them up at used book sales.

This may or may not have sent me into a spiral of book-coveting…. so, that being said, here is my list of the best children’s picture books for fall, which I am now reserving at the library.

The Best Childrens Picture Books for Fall

The Best Children’s Picture Books for Fall:

Leaf Man

Leaf Man is a pretty book- using leaf prints to show leaves traveling on the wind. Follow up reading it by making leaf creations of your own!

Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf

This book teaches the life of a sugar maple tree with a sweet story through a child’s eyes
Apples and Pumpkins

Apples and Pumpkins is all about going to a farm to pick pumpkins, and family traditions for fall.

We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt

Are you familiar with “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt”? This is the fall adaptation of that (well loved) classic children’s story.

Fletcher and the Falling Leaves

In this story, Fletcher worries about the trees when all the leaves start falling!

How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World (Dragonfly Books)

This isn’t technically a “fall” book, but it’s one of my favorites to pull out when the weather starts cooling off. We read the story, and make a pie and everything is right with the world!

The Biggest Pumpkin Ever

The Biggest Pumpkin Ever is a classic, one I remember from my childhood!

From Seed to Pumpkin (Let’s-Read-and-Find-Out Science 1)

The life cycle of a pumpkin.

Big Pumpkin

Big Pumpkin is more of a Halloween book, with witches and vampires coming out the harvest a giant pumpkin. Don’t worry, it’s not scary!

Thanks for Thanksgiving

I grabbed this book for the boys for Thanksgiving last year and it’s become one of my favorites. It’s a sweet story about all the things we have to be thankful for.

Cranberry Thanksgiving

This book is recently back in print- join a family for their family dinner.

How Do Apples Grow?

This book teaches the life cycle of an apple tree- and has fun experiments in the back.

Why Do Leaves Change Color? (Let’s-Read-and-Find-Out Science, Stage 2)

Another Read-and-Find-Out science book on why leaves change their color in the fall.
